David Gonzales

David Gonzales, 77 of Waco, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2022 surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Benji officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. with Rosary at 5:00 p.m. at Connally /Compton Funeral Directors on Thursday, August 11, 2022.

David was born on March 25, 1945 to Apolonio and Maria (Garcia) Gonzales in Waco, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Waco. David married the love of his life in Waco. They have celebrated 34 years together. David worked as a supervisor for Centennial home and Clayton Home. Then he worked as a farmer the last 41 years. David enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and camping. Most of all, watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beatrice Gonzales.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Gonzales of Waco; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Gonzales of Shreveport, LA; son, David Apolonio Gonzales of Midland, TX. Grandchildren: Christina Maria Metcalf, Richard David Filbert, Emma Rose Gonzales, Eva Christine Gonzales, and Elijah David Gonzales; great-grandson, Heath A. Jordan; four brothers and four sisters.

Memorials can be made to Saint Jude Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place., Memphis, TN.

Pallbearers: Martin Andrade, Steven Grice, Gabriel Garcia, Geoff Brannon, Angelo Flores, Gilbert Sais; Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Gonzales, Carlos Gonzales, Steve Garcia, Larry Garcia and Tony Gonzales.

The family would like to thank the nurses on 3 East at Ascension Providence. Special thanks to Brad Bates of Compassus Hospice for his support to family and especially, Melanie and the hospice team for their care given as well.
