Billie Jeanne Cummins, 81, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation but friends are invited to sign the register book from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Billie was born January 23, 1930 in Maud, Oklahoma. She graduated from Temple High School. She married William “Bill” Cummins on August 28, 1950. She was a high fashion model and instructor in Colorado. Billie and her husband owned Cummins Hydraulic Sales and Service for 20 years, retiring at age 51. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Odell Dudley Sunday School Class, and served on the Board of Directors for the Fine Arts Building at the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex. She was in charge of the baked goods division during the fair. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, entertaining, and was a gourmet cook who enjoyed trying new recipes. Her other hobbies included collecting cook books and coins.
Billie was preceded in death by her loving husband, William “Bill” Cummins and daughter, Rebecca K. Cummins.
Billie is survived by her brother-in-law, Bobby J. Cummins and wife, Ann; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby J. Cummins, Jack Resch, Charlie Vonasek, and Tony Vonasek.
