Kirk was born on May 20th, 1956 in Augusta, GA to Betty and Woody Collins. He worked for Martin Marietta for 43 years, most recently as a foreman at the Cayce Quarry. His passion was safety and his top priority was making sure all the people who worked with and for him went home to their families whole.
In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling around the world to spend time with his children (though he’d bring his own instant grits along in case he didn’t like the food).
Kirk loved golf, the beach, and any TV show about Alaska. He was a quiet man with a big heart, a fierce mustache, and a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his parents; his children Jennifer (Brian) Collins, Jason Collins, and Jill (Ali Can) Demir; his grandchildren Isaac Rhoten, Daniel Demir, and Eleanor Demir; siblings Karan (David) Atkins, Kelly (Sabrina) Collins, Kevin Collins, and Kale Collins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Baumgardner Collins, and sister, Mandy Collins.
Visitation will be held at Pelion Baptist Church, 841 Main St, Pelion, SC 29123, on Saturday, March 2nd at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM.
