Sandra H. Baggette

It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of Sandra Baggette on November 19, 2024. With family at her side, she passed away at Still Hopes Retirement Community in West Columbia, SC after a long fight with cancer and dementia. Sandra was a loving and greatly loved grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She had deep faith, loved her family, her flowers, her art, and the many friends she had over the years.

We are fortunate that Sandra took the opportunity to share her parting thoughts before her memory started to decline. We have shared Sandra’s full farewell message below. About flowers and memorial contributions, she said: “Flowers have been my passion throughout my life. They represent what a little care, encouragement and faith can do for all. As much as I love them, I would prefer that you contribute to one of the many charities that will encourage and give hope to someone in need.”

A private interment service will be held at Still Hopes soon. A celebration of life event will be held at a future date with details to be determined. Please contact family for more information:

Beyond the Sunset: I Have Gone to the Big Paint Out in the Sky

I have left, for whatever reason not of my choosing, but understandable, as it was time. I am extremely grateful for my time on earth and for all my many blessings. My motto, with Jack, my life partner, was “keep them laughing,” and he made even the worst times tolerable. My children and their partners and my grandchildren were a never-ending source of enrichment and joy: my daughter Jessica (Gary) McGreal of Kingston, WA, my daughter Jennifer (Tom) Cosgrove of Longmeadow, MA, my son, Jackson (Elizabeth Kennedy) Baggette of Bowling Green, VA, and my daughter Gabrielle Baggette of Columbia, SC, my grandchildren, Maila, Dale, and Mia Watson, Isabel Baggette, and Will Cosgrove. I am also grateful for the love of my brothers, Bud Hopkins, Jim Hopkins, and Steve Hopkins.

There are so many people that have been encouraging, laughing, and crying with me as I have wandered through my blessed life: family, fellow artists at Atelier, patrons of my art, the Methodist Church, Disciples 11, my gardening friends. All have enriched and made this a wonderful life. This has been a fantastic journey, and my hope is I will always pass through your thoughts when you see the beauty of this world.

You know me very well, and we have been separated before. So, keep me in your heart, but know that I want you to enjoy and love and create your own memories. Keep our best memories, and for goodness sake, forget and forgive the unpleasant ones.

Have a wonderful life. My love and blessings are with you always. My prayer is that the same God that has been with me, will be with you. Love and peace to all for I am without need. Amen
