Evelyn Chavis Sanford

Evelyn Chavis Sanford of West Columbia, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the age of 92. Evelyn was born on August 2, 1930 in North, SC to the late Clyde and Lucile Chavis. She was married to the late Harold Sanford.

She worked at The Kingsman Restaurant for over 20 years and was famous for making the daily lunch specials. Throughout her life, Evelyn was an avid fan of Days of Our Lives, going to the racetrack, loved Dale Earnhardt, and spent her time cooking, gardening, birdwatching, and taking care of her cat, Alley. Evelyn always put family first and was known for her compassion for others.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Brigman (Reggie) of Newberry and Vince Sanford (Wendy) of Gaston; niece and best friend, Wanda Pilot; two sisters, Helen and Margaret; grandchildren, Regina Lake (Edwin), Samuel Price, Jr., Angela Price, Michael Pilot, Harold Lee Sanford (Melody), and Allyson Sanford (Tim); great grandchildren, Madelyn, Mattison, Manning, Blaze, Jarren, and Oslynn; and extended family, Tracy, Tommy, and Cherokee. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Harold Sanford; seven brothers and sisters; children, Billy Sanford and Connie Price; grandson, Justin Price and close friend, Henry Taylor.

A funeral is scheduled for 3:00 pm on January 30 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel with graveside service to follow. Visitation with the family will be held before the funeral starting at 2:00 pm.
