In 1957, she moved to Columbia when she married LaVern Shull and they have been married for 65 years. She was a teacher with Idella Kirkland teaching kindergarten and later went to work for Carolina Freight Trucking Company as a secretary.
She loved camping, handwork, crafts, sewing, traveling and most of all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Shirley Edwards and Judy Leach and one brother, Frank Simmons.
She is survived by her husband, LaVern Shull; daughters, LaVonne Cockrell (Terry) of Braselton, GA, Lisa Sheider (Rick) of Leesville, SC and Lea Borgne (Rick) of Gales Ferry, CT; nine grandchildren, Michael, Kyle, Kris, Ricky, Joshua, Ryan, Lindley, Jessica and Nathan; seventeen great-grandchildren and one more on the way, and one sister, Mary Jean Lorick of Irmo, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, with interment to follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
