Steven Henry Rudig

Steven Henry Rudig, the beloved son of Jim and Anne Rudig was born on August 10th, 1970 in Carmichael, California and passed quietly on November 4th, 2023 in Visalia, California after a difficult year of numerous illnesses.

Steve was raised in Visalia graduating from Mt. Whitney High School in 1988. He was an avid swimmer, specializing in the butterfly stroke. He continued his education at Cal State Long Beach for two years and graduated from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business in 1992. He had a career with the Sprint Corporation, managing call centers throughout the United States, Canada and several South American countries. He lived in Portland, OR, Kansas City, MO, Harlem, NY and Jersey City, NJ. Steve traveled extensively throughout South America, Europe and the Mediterranean countries.

In 2017 Steve moved back to Visalia to be closer to family and friends. He attended the College of the Sequoias and graduated from the COS Nursing Program in 2020. His sole intention upon graduation was to care for his parents in their formative years. At one time in his life Steve was a dedicated body builder and won the only competition he entered. Stevie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and visiting relatives and friends. He liked writing poetry and hand written letters. He was a sweet and gentle person with an infectious smile. His wit was quick and funny, and his laugh was only surpassed by his mom’s. Once you truly knew Steve you loved him.

Surviving family members include his brother Jim Rudig and his wife Jennifer of Denver, CO. His aunts and uncles Jeannie and Bob McChesney of Rescue, CA and Stephanie and Chaz Rudig of Fairbanks, AK. His aunts and uncles; Christine and Armando Vasquez of Irvine, CA; Barbara and John Turner of San Diego, CA. Along with David and Nadine Normington of North Hills, CA and Mark and Mavis Normington of Trabuco Canyon, CA. Steven loved his grandma Florence Rudig and his grandparents George and Dorothy Normington, all of whom proceeded him in death.
