Marvin was born in Detroit, Michigan on to Roy Omar and Viola Frances Wood. His parents moved to Tucson, Arizona when he was a young man. Marvin served in the United States Marine Corp from 1960 – 1963. Following his discharge he moved to San Francisco where he managed and worked in numerous gas stations. In February of 1966, Marvin married the love of his life, Mary Lou Alvarado in Reno, Nevada. The made their home first in Mountain View and then moved to Sunnyvale. In 1971 Marvin and Mary Lou moved to San Jose to make their home and raise their three children, Mike, Deanna and Scott. In 2000 they moved to Visalia to enjoy retirement. Marvin enjoyed mechanics and working on cars, wood working and home construction. His family remembers him as a fun dad---he took his children to the lake where they learned to ski while he just drove the boat. He taught his children the value of working to obtain the things that they desired in life.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Viola and his brother Lee.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mary Lou of Visalia; his children, Mike and wife Sandra of San Jose, CA, Deanna Rubio of San Jose, CA and Scott and wife Janine of Salem, OR; one sister, Carol Kaehler of Richie, FL and eight very special grandchildren, Marty, Josh, Raymond, Jadin, Noah, Patrick, Dan and Sammy Joe and very special great grandson, Mecah.
Private Celebration of Life services will be held.
