Laurinda (Lori) Curtsinger, 72, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024, with her family by her side. Born May 30, 1952 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania to Alban and Ellabelle Eavenson, Lori was an only child, always very active and adventurous. In her teen years, Lori enjoyed the show jumping circuit with her beloved horse Delphance, ultimately winning several awards. After hanging up her saddle, Lori chose to pursue a career that resonated with her passion to help people and became a Registered Nurse where she served for over 45 years, primarily at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia. Lori loved her hospital team like family and held onto many fond (and comedic) memories over the years.
In January 1973, Lori met the love of her life, Dennis Curtsinger. They quickly knew they wanted to spend their lives together and married on June 29, 1973. This year, Dennis & Lori would have celebrated 51 years of marriage together. For those who knew Lori well, knew she loved her family and friends unconditionally, but she loved her Heavenly Father more than anyone or anything else. Lori could brighten any room she entered; all of her family and friends can attest to her unwavering faith and support of her family. Lori loved the scripture Jeremiah 29:11 and held fast to God’s plan and will for her and her family’s lives. Although she was not musically inclined, she loved to listen to southern gospel music, especially when her husband (Dennis), daughter (Christy) and son-in-law (Mark) were singing. Having supported her family for many years whether she was loading or unloading equipment, working the product table or whatever was needed, Lori was always willing to lend a helping hand and you would often find her taking extra care of her husband’s guitar collection. Often referred to as “MacGyver”, if there was something you needed, it could typically be found in her purse. Alongside her husband Dennis, Lori is a pioneer in bringing southern gospel music to the Central Valley of California and her legacy will live on in our hearts.
Lori loved animals and her fur babies and grand fur babies always held a very special place in her heart. Dennis and Christy would often tease that Lori would get rid of them before she would any of her animals. Lori also loved to travel and there are several cherished memories from cruises to shopping trips and so much more. Lori’s laugh was infectious, and the sound of her laugh will forever live on in our hearts.
Lori is preceded in death by her parents, Alban and Ellabelle Eavenson. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Curtsinger, daughters Christy (husband, Mark) Taylor and Deana (husband, Rick) Godsey, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Central Coast Hospice and Infinite Heart Hospice of Visalia for the extraordinary care that has been given to Lori during the last year of her life. We would also like to extend a warm appreciation to her care givers Mary Lopez, Oceano, and Kim Stewart, Exeter, of their excellent care, time and attention to Lori during this time as well.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 AM at Thrive Church located at 1020 W Grove Ave, Visalia, CA 93291.
Miss Me, But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me . . . but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds,
Miss me . . . but let me go.
