Hattie was born in Iowa to Egbert & Peteronela Zomermaand, and was the youngest of 15 children. She married the love of her life, John Boeve, on October 22, 1951 and were married 66 years before John died in 2017. She devoted her life to caring for her husband, whom she affectionately called “Boeve” as well as her children and many grandchildren. Hattie enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, playing games especially cards, and word puzzles. She worked keeping the Boeve household running smoothly. She also helped others with their homes until she retired in 1989. She was a member of Trinity United Reformed Church and loved singing in the choir. Sunday after church the family would all come over for Sunday lunches. This included Hattie’s favorite sweets: rice krispie bars, brownies, tootsie rolls, and jello with extra cool whip. The main course was prepared by John, either soup or chili. Hattie also enjoyed traveling with her husband John around the United States in their famous yellow VW Bus, and would take the grandkids on adventures as well. Hattie will be remembered for her love of The Lord Jesus Christ, her husband, and her family.
