Donald Groen

The Lord called home a dear father, grandfather, brother & friend, Donald Groen of Visalia, CA passed away on April 28, 2016. He was born in Renville, Minnesota on August 4, 1930 to George and Gertha Groen. He graduated from Renville High School in 1948. On February 12, 1951 he enlisted in the U. S Navy and served from 1951 to 1955. During this time he married the love of his life, Hilda Jean de Blauw of Redlands, CA on October 18, 1951. They were blessed with a son and two daughters.

In 1980 Don & Hilda moved to Visalia, CA where Don worked in real estate sales until he retired in 1996. Don's father preceded him in death in 1959 and his mother in 1998 at the age of 101. Don's wife passed away in 2004 at the age of 71. Don's brothers who preceded his death are John (2001), Alvin ( 2002), Gerald (2010) and brother in law Delroy Ledeboer (2011).

Don is survived by Son - Gregory D Groen and wife Joanne of Visalia, CA, Daughters - Barbara Swanson & husband Bob of DeMotte, IN and Nancy Peterson & husband Brad of Lexington, MO, Brothers- Ben G Groen & wife Adeline of Renville, Minn., George Groen Jr. & wife Betty of Thousand Oaks, CA, Sister- Freida Ledeboer of Prinsburg, Minn. Grandchildren – 8 and Great grandchildren - 14

Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120W Goshen Ave. in Visalia on Thursday May 5, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm. Graveside service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10am at the Visalia Public Cemetery District followed by Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. at Visalia Christian Reformed Church on 1030 S. Linwood Ave, Visalia, CA.
