Martha Jean Fleischman Nolf, 93, passed away peacefully on August 21st, in the comfort of her Virginia Beach home. She was predeceased by her husband Captain Dr. Robert Nolf USN Ret. in May of 2021. Jean and Bob were married on September 5, 1951. They had two sons, Scott R. Nolf and Barry K. Nolf. They lived all over the world, while Bob served his country. The whole family served, especially Jean. Jean was an avid golfer, who shot eleven hole-in-ones. Her skills as a seamstress were remarkable. She could re-cover all of the couch cushions in the blink of an eye. It was truly amazing. She was also a master chef and a master gardener. She loved to share recipes, food, flowers and seeds. What she was most proud of was being Mom and Nana Jean.
Jean is survived by her son, Scott; and her grandson, Jacob R. Nolf; along with her daughter-in-law, Toni Dellinger Nolf. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Fleischman and his wife Jean; her brother in law, Ken Nolf and his wife Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She leaves behind her best friend, Kitty Roman and her favorite in-law, Peewee Dellinger.
Jean was born March 31, 1929 to Edith Laura Roberts and John Edward Fleischman. The family lived in Natrona Heights PA, where Jean graduated from Har-Brack High School, and went on to attend Alma College in Michigan. Jean was predeceased by her parents; her son, Barry; her husband, Bob; her sister, Carol Masquelier and her husband Richard; and a brother, John L. Fleischman.
The family would like to thank everyone for their cards, and kind words of support during Jean’s long illness and passing. We would also like to thank Donielle Cooper and her people for taking exceptional care of “Miss Martha” since Bob’s passing.
Services will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity on her behalf. Happy 71st Anniversary today to Jean and Bob. You may offer your condolences at www.rosewoodkellumfuneralhome.com
