Our beloved mother, Marie J. Holcomb, 80, passed quietly and at peace on February 16, 2015. She is predeceased by her husband, J.B. Holcomb; her son, Gary W. Holcomb; her mother, Lizzie Jenkins; brother, Avery (Pete) Jenkins; and sister, Doris Towery.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah M. Assaid and son, Bobby E. Holcomb of Chesapeake, sons Steven B. Holcomb (Glenda) and Danny K. Holcomb of Richmond, VA; her sister, JoAnne Nesselrodt (John) of Hanover, VA; her grandchildren, Jeff Assaid (Elizabeth), Steve Assaid, Cori, Gary and Katie Holcomb; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Evan Assaid; and numerous friends and loved ones. Marie touched the lives of everyone she met. She never met a stranger and leaves this world a better place than she found it.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
