Joseph “Joey” Charles Miller Jr., passed away Saturday June 15th, 2019 in Norfolk, VA at the age of 59. Joey is survived by his mother, Doris Miller of Virginia Beach; twin daughters Jackie Miller of Virginia Beach and Jamie Miller of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter Mackenzie Mason; three sisters Maureen Larrabee of Norfolk, Theresa Davis of Illinois and Judy Starling of Virginia Beach; 2 nieces Cheryl Larrabee, Cristie Key; four nephews Brian Larrabee, Michael Starling Jr., Lonnie Widing and Nathan Widing; three great nieces and nephews and longtime partner Sherry Swafford. He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Charles Miller Sr. of Virginia Beach; maternal grandparents Ruby and Ralph Hamill; paternal grandparents “Nellie” and “Flay” Clary. Joseph C. Miller Jr., was born on January 31 in Norfolk, VA to Doris and Joseph Miller. Joey graduated from Bayside High School in 1978. After the age of 19 he promoted to a 7th degree black belt in Jiu Jitsu. He loved competing and teaching martial arts classes when he was younger. Over time he worked at the Ford Motor Plant in Norfolk, VA and created a patent that earned him the title of Vice President at Air Systems in Chesapeake, VA. Joey loved the ocean, deep sea fishing, jet skiing and taking trips with his twin daughters and longtime partner. He also had a special and deep appreciation for Science, outer space, galaxies, and the solar system in addition to a love for History. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00PM June 29, 2019 at Smith and Williams Funeral Home located in Virginia Beach, VA. The service will be officiated by Celebrant Laura Barnes. Flowers and donations can be sent to Doris Miller C/O Smith and Williams funeral home. In honor of Joey’s memory, you are welcome to wear his favorite color - Cobalt Blue.
