Gloria Jean Chappell

Gloria Jean Dewberry Chappell, 94, passed away on December 26, 2024 at Chesapeake Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John W. Dewberry and Ethel M. Dewberry. She was the spouse of the late Nicholas E. Chappell, Sr. She was predeceased by her son William (Billy) T. Chappell and sister Elizabeth Hyman. Gloria retired from the City of Chesapeake school transportation department after 40 years of service.

She is survived by her children Patricia Colbert (Tommy), Ercell Chappell, Jr. (Pam), Mike Chappell (Janet), Carol Chappell, and David Chappell (Slay); 14 grandchildren including Catherine Chappell; 20 great grandchildren including Cheyenne Chappell; and 2 great great grandchildren, Noah Miller and Amber Leigh Rose Potter; nephew, Frankie Hyman and niece, Joyce Batten.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in Rosewood Memorial Park.
