Geraldine "Gerri" S. Gilliland

She was born in Excel, Alabama to John T. and Elvie M. Saucer. Gerri grew up on the family farm with her five sisters and three brothers. She married the love of her life Billy A. Gilliland on Aug. 18, 1950. Shortly after they were stationed at Ft. Story in Virginia Beach, Va. She found her true calling as a school bus driver. Gerri went on to be the first Va Beach Schools DMV examiner and trained many school bus drivers and employees throughout her 40 + year career. After retiring her keys, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, cooking, canning, and exploring new recipes.

She is predeceased by her parents John and Elvie Saucer, Her eight siblings, her husband of 62 Years Billy Gilliland, son in law Robert Adair, and one special great grandson Kane William Decker.

Left to cherish her memory a son John Gilliland (Barbara), a daughter Vanessa Adair, eight grandchildren, Tonya Tillman (Tony), Jennifer Galloway (Robert), Amy Stalcup (James), Cortney Danaher (Ryan), Michael Adair (Tonja), Melissa Eichenlaub (Chester), Adonna Adair Decker (Howard), Charles Adair, and twenty-four great grandchildren. And a slew of other special family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Sunday Oct. 13, 2024 from 5-7pm and a funeral will be held Tuesday Oct 15, 2024 at 2pm at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home 601 Witchduck Rd. Va Beach, Va. 23462. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
