A Chesapeake native and graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Allen was former owner of Port Allen Marine Services Shipyard. He was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge, past Potentate, 2001 Khedive Shrine Center and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Goumenis-Allen; four children, Fred W. Allen, II, E. James Goumenis and wife Sherry, Christopher C. Goumenis and wife Amanda, Denise G. Wesseler and husband Bradley; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Jacob, Landen, Braden and Ashton Goumenis, Phoebe and Georgia Wesseler; two sisters, Alice Hollomen and Betty Christenson and brother Phil Allen.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
