Mrs. de Leon was born in Tabaco, Albay, Philippines. She received her nursing degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1954 and received a scholarship to Philadelphia Graduate School, which brought her to the United States where she met her husband, Ramon. She retired from Maryview Hospital Pediatric Ward. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, a member of the Bicol Association, and various bowling leagues with her husband.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty years, Ramon C. de Leon, Sr.; her children, Alice Fitzpatrick and husband, Patrick of Chesapeake, VA; Ramon de Leon, Jr. and wife, Marilu of Ft. Collins, CO; Herman de Leon and wife, Ramona of Raleigh, NC; Xenia Robinson and husband, David of Suffolk, VA; four grandchildren, Justin, Zachary and Jessica Fitzpatrick; and Tyler Robinson; four sisters, Remedios Doctolero, Leonides Stergios, Elvira Hester, Lorna Allison and a brother, Hernando Conde.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. by Father Michael Boehling. Entombment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
