Edward Lee Whitaker, Jr.

Edward L. Whitaker, Jr., born August 21, 1962 to Edward L. Whitaker, Sr. and Ruby Whitaker (Mason) in Norfolk, VA. He is predeceased by his father and his brother, Erick J. Whitaker. After Edward graduated from high school in New Jersey, he decided to join the Army in 1980. After basic training he was transferred to Germany. Shortly after being there he met and married his wife, Angelika. They soon were transferred to the USA, Augusta, Georgia. They were there 1 year before being transferred back to Germany where they remained for 4 years. After the military, Edward applied for a truck driver position and drove trucks for over 10 years and then worked for Virginia Beach Public Works as a heavy equipment operator for 22 years. Edward had to take an early retirement on April 4, 2023 due to his illness. He was a good man and ready to help anyone that needed help. He always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Angelika Whitaker, his mother Ruby Whitaker; sister Doralene D. Whitaker; niece, Ashley R. Whitaker; nephews, Jeson Z. Whitaker, Tyerke A. Whitaker and Loyal Pierce; as well as many cousins and friends. A visitation for Edward will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A a celebration of life will occur Monday, August 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. A burial with military honors will occur at Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462.
