Edith Frances Myers Morter, 69, went home on Sunday, November 3, 2013, she was at Virginia Beach General Hospital. Edith was born in Mocksville, NC to James and Gladys Myers. She has been a resident of Virginia Beach for over 30 years. She retired from Red Lobster after 20 years of service. She spent many years, along with her husband, raising and showing prize winning rabbits.
She is survived by her living husband of 51 years, James Morter; one daughter, Diane Adams and husband Berl, of Louisiana; four sons, James, Frank, and wife Ann, Michael and Ronald, all of Virginia Beach; one step-son, Rick Crowley and wife Susan, of Indiana; two brothers, John Myers and wife Bertha and Jimmy Myers and wife Pansy, of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, and wife Alena, Stephen and wife Megan, David, and wife Samantha Adams, and Evan Morter; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Sabrina and Joshua Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gladys Myers; one sister, Betty Blake; two daughters-in-law, Kim Morter and Debby Morter and her very special pet, Smokey.
A special thank you to the doctors and care givers who made her last days comfortable.
A visitation will be from 6-8pm on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 2pm, Friday, in the Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home chapel with burial at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach.
