Carl Steven Chitwood (May 17, 1940-December 24, 2024), 84, passed away peacefully after a short illness. He proudly served 38 years in the U.S. Navy, starting as a Seaman and ending his career as a Captain. After leaving the Navy, he worked as Chief Financial Officer for Hospital Corp. of America until his full retirement in 2002. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf.
Carl got a BS in Business Administration and Management from U of Maryland and an MS in Human Relations from Golden Gate University.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Myrna, his son, Robert, his daughter, Cathi, his parents, Clyde and Ellen, and his brother, Paul.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Shelley, his sister, Susan, his granddaughter, Marianne, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on January 8, 2025 at 10am at the Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home in Virginia Beach, VA.
