Born on June 8, 1931, in Hesmer, Louisiana, Oris was the son of Oris Joseph Gremillion, Sr. and Lizedie Guillot. He was a man of vibrant spirit and unwavering love for his family. Oris found immense joy in the simplicity of life's pleasures, relishing in camping adventures and beach outings. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his devotion to his grandchildren, with whom he shared countless cherished moments and fond memories.
In 1952, Oris embarked on a lifelong journey of companionship and friendship when he married the love of his life, Emma Jean McDonald. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of life, building a legacy of love and devotion. Oris was a proud father to three sons, Ronnie, Gary, and Bill, whom he raised with boundless love and guidance. Prior to his marriage, Oris served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy during the Korean War, from June 7, 1951, through May 31, 1957. His courageous service exemplified his commitment to defending the freedoms we hold dear.
For many years, Oris owned and operated Gremillion TV/Repair Shop in Vinton, where he was not only a skilled technician but also a pillar of the community. An avid reader with an insatiable curiosity, Oris delved into a myriad of topics, with ham radio information holding a special place in his heart. His passion for technology extended to his hobbies, where he found solace and excitement in operating ham radios and exploring the world of computers.
Oris is survived by his two sons, Ronald Gremillion (wife Songa), and Bill Kunasek (wife Jane), as well as his daughter-in-law Connie Gremillion. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Oris is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Jean, and his son, Gary. While he may have left this earthly realm, Oris's quick wit and fiery spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In accordance with Oris's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. Instead, condolences may be sent to his son, Ronald Gremillion, at 101 Bull Run Circle, Broussard, LA 70518. As we bid farewell to a beloved patriarch and military hero, may we find comfort in the memories shared and the legacy he leaves behind.
