On June 27, 2024 at 11:00 am Jerrie Kay (Katie) Metzger passed away peacefully of natural causes in Victorville, California. Her son Jefferson Dene Metzger and daughter Cory Lynn Rayyes were at her side when she passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Katie lived her life dedicated to The Lord. She was always a blessing to those she came in contact with. She had a joyful spirit and the gift of hospitality, always bringing joy to those around her.

Katie was born July 24,1941 in Union South Carolina to Leonard Mitchell and Katie Mae Manning. Her father, Leonard was an accomplished Interior Decorator who had his own Interior Decorating store in Hollywood, Calif. One of his good friends and clients was Walt Disney. Her mother, Katie Mae Manning owned “Katie’s Café” in Hollywood, CA. Katie had an older sister, Barbera who was a talented seamstress.
Katie married the love of her life, Carl Dene (Dener) Metzger on April 3, 1959. Katie was an Executive Secretary for Atomics International; she worked as a Telemetry Technician in the “Open Heart Unit” at Victor Valley Hospital; she also owned her own business called “Katie’s Doll Restore,” where she handmade beautiful dolls and doll clothes, and restored antique dolls. She was so creative; sewing, cooking and ceramics. She excelled at everything she put her mind and hands to. Her husband Dener was a specialty meatcutter. Together they had two children, Cory Lynn and Jefferson Dene Metzger.
Katie had 11 beautiful Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and one Great, Great Granddaughter.
Katie is preceded in death by her parents, Katie Mae and Leonard; her sister, Barbera; her Husband, Dene and her son-in law, Amer, and many other loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter, Cory Lynn Rayyes, her son Jefferson Dene Metzger, his wife Judy Metzger, 11 grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren and one Great, Great Granddaughter.
