Ian was born February 3, 1982, to Francene (LaChapelle) and Leonard Mpoke in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He lived in the Victorville, California area during his formative years, and in Riverside County for more than 20 years, residing in LaQuinta, California the last two years.
Ian graduated from Victor Valley High School in 2001 and was the manager for the track and girls JV volleyball teams. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing sports video games, watching the Packers and the Cubs, cruising and rodeo.
Ian accepted Jesus as his savior when he was 7 years old and had a sensitive and loving spirit. When he was young, he would often tell us he couldn’t wait to get to heaven and describe how wonderful it would be! He was passionate about family (everyone was his “favorite”) and the Green Bay Packers. Ian was well known everywhere he went for making people laugh and his many “escapades”, if you know, you know!
Ian is survived by his parents, Francene and Joseph Millender of Victorville; sister, Amanda (William) Khan, of Tampa, Florida; brother, Joseph (Nicole) Millender, of Shaw AFB, South Carolina; nieces and nephews, Aizling, Annalise, Kai, and Irah; Father, Leonard (Catherine) Mpoke of Kenya.
A memorial service celebrating Ian’s life will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Desert View Memorial Park, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, CA 92392, followed by an on-site reception from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
