Richard Joseph (Dick) Scheibelhut age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was born June 21, 1933, in Mishawaka, Indiana to Bernard Scheibelhut and Candus Mohn. He was a graduate of Notre Dame with a business degree and followed or attended all of their football games. He was enlisted in the Army from 1951 to 1953. Dick and Gail (Elinor) Mottice were married in 1959 and move with five young sons from Indiana to Victoria, Texas in 1971. Dick worked as a stockbroker for a few years and then as production control manager at Sky Top Brewster. He was also a business manager for Lyster, Hornish & Associates. After he retired, he was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and built many homes. He was very active at Our Lady of Victory working with the RCIA program and was a Eucharistic Minister. He loved to travel and take cruises with his wife, Gail.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Gail, his sons, Mark, Gary (Teri), Randy (Tish Zepeda), Kurt (Jerri) and Keith. His grandchildren, Chris (Shelly) Nagle, Tina (Steve) Duncan, Victor Scheibelhut, Jake Scheibelhut, Sarah Scheibelhut, Christina Strain, and Emma Scheibelhut and five great grandchildren, Grant, Anna, Clive, Jason and Mareya. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral at 1:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 1:30 pm followed by the funeral mass at 2:00 pm. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
