Michael Ann (“Mikey”) Ruddock, nee Stoner, 88, of Victoria, passed away on November 6, 2024, in San Antonio. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church of Victoria with the Reverend Dan Fultz officiating. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Mikey was born in San Antonio on June 21, 1936. Mikey was the precious and only child to her parents Michael Davis Stoner (known as “MD”) and Juell Wright Stoner. Mikey attended Pattie Welder High School in Victoria where she was a cheerleader and tennis player. She went on to Trinity University—San Antonio to study elementary education on partial scholarship, receiving her bachelor’s degree in three and one half years in 1958. Mikey was active at Trinity, participating in numerous clubs and activities. She was a member of Spurs Sorority, served as head cheerleader, was crowned homecoming princess and Tigerland Queen, and received the honor of being named most popular senior. She went on to study for and receive her master’s degree from Trinity in 1960, also in elementary education.
In August 1960, Mikey married Sothoron Burke George of Eagle Pass, Texas. Mikey taught fifth grade at Austin Elementary School in Eagle Pass. The couple had three children, Michael Sothoron, Evans Stoner, and Elizabeth Ann. Mikey and Sothoron divorced in 1968.
Mikey remained in Eagle Pass raising her three young children until 1978, when she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Billy Ruddock (1932-2023). Billy and Mikey settled in Victoria, where Mikey taught at Roland Elementary for the remainder of her career. She was active in numerous social and civic organizations, as well as her church First Presbyterian Church of Victoria. Mikey participated in Victoria Community Theater, Delta Kappa Gamma, Morning Study Club, First Ladies Club. She worked tirelessly on church committees, serving for decades at the church home she attended from childhood.
Mikey is preceded in death by her beloved Billy Ruddock (1932-2023) and her son, Michael George (1963-2014).
Mikey is survived by her son Evans George; daughter Elizabeth George Rosenblum (son-in-law Rick); daughter-in-law Esther George; granddaughters Avery Rosenblum and Ryan Rosenblum; grandson Geoffrey George; and, granddaughters Mary Elizabeth George and Juliana George.
