Lewis Clifford Wells, 74, of Victoria, passed away June 25, 2024. Lewis was born May 21, 1950 in Mineral Wells, TX to the late James Howard and Jessie Turner Wells. Clifford was an avid fisherman, and owned multiple boats over the years, even names one of his boats after his beautiful wife, Paula Ann. He also enjoyed collecting guns. Clifford loved to play poker, bridge and board games, and was usually the winner of the games. Clifford also acquired the name “card police” from his family because he was always watching to make sure the game was played correctly.
Clifford was very hard working and worked hard to provide for his family. He spent many years in the oilfield as a tool pusher. He earned several awards for million safe miles and million safe man hours, which he was very proud of for his safety record while on locations.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Paula Ann Walner Wells; daughter, Sherilan Coleman and husband, James of Bloomington; grandchildren, Steven McKey of Victoria, Albert Coleman of Austin, Amanda Coleman of Victoria; sister, Jacqueline Wells Pierre of Louisiana and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Verdena Pierre, Joyce Wells and brother, James H. Wells Jr.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 1-2 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 2 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are John Fossati, Richard Fossati, Steven McKey, Stacy Kubicek and Albert Coleman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
