George Gibson Harrington Jr., 88, of Victoria, Texas, passed away February 1, 2019. George was born July 11, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late George G. Harrington Sr. and Edna Wolf Harrington Dunn. George served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953 during the Korea Conflict. He was retired from Union Carbide and a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen Strelec of Cedar Park; sons, Kevin Harrington (Nancey McClure) of Houston, Kyle Harrington of Converse; grandchildren, Justin Strelec, Jon Strelec (Lacy), James Strelec, Shaina Harrington, Natasha Harrington, George G. Harrington III, Augustus Harrington, Kristina Harrington, Kandace Harrington and his great-grandchildren, Aaron Harrington, Olivia Strelec, Ethan Strelec, Logan Strelec and Liam Strelec.
George is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Ann Brown Harrington; sister, Marilyn Brown, son, Kirk Harrington; granddaughters, Kendra Harrington and Kristin Strelec.
Through his employment at Union Carbide, George and his beloved wife, Pat, were able to travel the world. They lived in Saudi Arabia for 3 years. Upon his return to the states, he became interested in genealogy and traced his family back several centuries.
George lived his faith and his spirituality was an inspiration to both family and friends. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 6-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services are Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church with burial to immediately follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Justin Strelec, Jon Strelec, James Strelec, George Harrington III, Augie Harrington and Gus Kroos.
Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Garcia, Donnie Rogers, Skipper Koeter, Randy Weiser and Don Dobratz.
