Ernesto married Rosalia Mota Rodriguez on November 19, 1955 in Victoria. Ernesto proudly served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retirement from the service, he became a small business owner in Des Moines, Iowa. He later moved to Altus, Oklahoma and volunteered for the VA by driving other veterans to doctors and hospital appointments. Ernesto and Rose returned to Victoria to be close to family.
Ernesto was a member of the American Legion, GI Forum, Catholic War Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Ernesto enjoyed his family, traveling, fishing, hunting, and working on vehicles. He was an active member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and of the St. John's Catholic War Veterans # 1269.
He is survived by his siblings, Senaida (husband Don) Mitchell, Maria (husband Wayne) Crater,
Isauro (wife Mary) Cisneros; children, Ernesto (wife Emma) Cisneros, Jr., Linda McManus, Joe Anthony (wife Debbie) Cisneros, and Sylvia (husband Kerry) Carman; grandchildren, Heather (David) Smith, Hillary Cisneros, Ernesto Cisneros III, Maryssa Cisneros, Ricky Ruiz Jr., Nathan McManus, Danielle McManus, Megan (Matt) Wade, Allison (Josh) Nick, Kyle (Megan) Carman; and great grandchildren, Joshua Lussert, Jeremiah Lussert, Jasmine Sith, Juan (Trey) Rosalez Jr., Gwendolyn Rosalez, Parker Wade, Brannan Wade, and Peyton Nick. Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalia; and brothers, Andres, Enrique, and Jose Cisneros.
The family will hold a visitation from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home followed by the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Father Gabriel Espinosa presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rudy Cisneros, Adam Cisneros, Joe Cisneros, Jr., Abraham Ceron, Ernesto Cisneros, Jr., and Joe Anthony Cisneros.
Military honors are under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, ALA, CWV, VFW, PHA, DAV, WWII, et al.
In memory of Ernesto, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church or to the St. John's Catholic War Veterans Post #1269.
