Cecilia "Cye" Marie Rice

Cecilia “Cyl” Rice, age 74, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013. She was born September 14, 1938 in Cuero, Texas to the late Ernest and Emma Lee Joseph Henson. Cyl enjoyed crocheting and crafts. She loved country music and singing karaoke with her friends. She was a Catholic. She was very special to her family and dearly loved her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Nina”.

She is survived by her daughters, Shari Combs, and Emily Anne (Kenan) Dibrell, both of Victoria; sons, Bryan (Carolyn) Hester of Victoria, and Steven (Mac) of Kingwood; sisters, Ernestine “Teen” (Stephen) Grigory, Betty Jo (Donald) Elder, Valeria (Norman) Key, Janice (Eddie) Leysath, Cynthia Ann Henson; brother, Ernest (Donna) Henson Jr.; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Gorman Rice; and sister, Dorothy “Dot” Henson.

Visitation will be held 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Schneider officiating.

Private graveside services will be held by the Family at the Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, Texas at a later date, with Fr. George Henninger officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include her son-in-laws, Mac and Kenan, and grandsons, James, Devin Joseph, Breyden, Braxton, and Ethan Charles.

The Family would like to extend their appreciation for the special care given from the nursing staff of Victoria Nursing and Rehab, and to Lighthouse Hospice for their comfort and guidance during her last days.
