in this life. Following the examples of her loving parents, Dr. J.D.F. Williams and Carolyn
Carter Williams, she would commit to a lifelong ministry of teaching, nurturing, and
caring for God’s people. While in college at Southwestern University she reconnected
with the Love of her life and childhood sweetheart, Harris A. Marr. After graduating with
a BA in Christian Education, Betty & Harris raised three children, Kathy (John), Bill
(Linda) and Ricky (Carol), being active in their church and community for many years.
She joyfully served multiple roles throughout her career on Staff at Methodist churches.
In 1977 Betty achieved her lifelong dream becoming an ordained Minister, first as a
Diaconal Minister eventually completing her call as a Deacon in the United Methodist
Church. She dedicated her time and efforts to her local church, the Methodist Church at
the district, Annual and General conferences throughout her career and often
acknowledged as a faithful servant and role model for those seeking a meaningful
relationship with Christ. She unselfishly gave of herself to everyone she met. Her quiet
strength, Faith, Love, compassion and loyalty positively touched the lives of those who
walked with her. After retiring, Betty moved to Cedar Park/Round Rock area to be near her family. She
spent many hours enjoying the lives of her children and grandchildren, Shannon Isbell
(Scott), Brett Huegele (Chelsie), Daniel Marr (Anna), and Caitlin Marr, and sharing her
gentle kind spirit with her great grandchildren, Mekenzie Isbell, Eleanor and Mabel Marr.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harris A. Marr in
1980 and her sister, Nancy Shine.
