Betty Jean Key

Betty Jean Taylor Key passed away on January 9, 2018 at the age of 85. She was born August 20, 1932 in Palacios, Texas to Alvie O. Taylor and Johnie Ofelia McCombs Taylor. She was a homemaker, longtime resident of Victoria, Texas, and a member of the Midtown Church of Christ. She married William (Bill) Oliver Key Jr. on October 10, 1950 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his death in July 2013.

Betty is survived by her sister, Joyce Lee Simms; children, Janis Ann Key Fossati, Dwayne Anthony Key, and Nancy Carol Key Fortenberry; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and very special friends, Blake and Jennifer Shaw (loved as adopted siblings by Bill and Betty) and Annie Catherine Thomason (loved caregiver for several years for Bill and Betty). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jessie Lewis (J.L.) Taylor; sisters, Edna Marie Kerth and Gladys O’Neil.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at MidTown Church of Christ. Pallbearers will be Michael Fortenberry, Timothy Fossati, William Fossati, Virgil Simms, Brian Erdman, and Juan Rincon. Honorary pallbearer is Donnie Eaton.
