Alma (affectionally known as Granny) was born on July 15, 1924, to Katie Lee Mckinzie (neé Karney) and Charles Benton Mckinzie in Columbia, Missouri, along with two sisters, Fannie Miller (deceased) and Altha O’Neal (deceased).
She was married to Nelson Ray Allen in June of 1940, and they had two sons, Darold Ray Allen (deceased) and Garry Dwayne Allen (deceased). She lived a long and very happy life with her husband on the outskirts of Victoria, Texas in a farmhouse on their own little slice of heaven. She was an avid reader of romance novels and loved to watch Westerns, especially anything starring her “boyfriend” Mr. John Wayne! Alma was a homemaker and a housewife for most of her life, and it brought her so much joy to nurture her family and grow it into what it is today. She will be deeply and sorely missed.
Alma joins her mother and father; her husband Nelson; her two sisters, Fannie and Altha; and her two sons, Darold and Garry, in heaven as well as her dear friend and daughter in law, Patricia Swaing. She leaves her grandchildren, Cheryl Garza, Catherine Hamilton, Kimberly Archer, and Glenwood Allen; 10 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren to cherish her loving memory.
