It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Louise Smith on March 28. Sheila was born Sheila Tranter on September 15, 1936 in Quinton, UK. She married Alfred Smith in 1971 and together they ran a successful machine company . After his passing, Sheila emigrated to Canada, living many years in Calgary, Alberta and then Cranbrook, BC, before retiring to Sidney, BC. She was an active member at St. Andrews Anglican church, completing the Education for Ministry course, and then later joining Peace Lutheran Church.
Sheila had an infectious laugh and enjoyed life until health complications. She will be mourned by her dear friend in Massachusetts, Mary Ann Gilmore, family members Carolyn and Allen Hough in the UK, many friends at Saanich Legion Manor and her two churches and especially Merlane Quan and David and Thirell Trottier. Many thanks to Reverend Eric Trovall, Dr. Andrew Kwasnica, and the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative team. A tea to celebrate her life will be held at a safe date in the future.
