We are extremely sad to announce the passing of Mike (Ian Michael) Marley on May 26, 2024, at his home in Victoria. Mike was born in 1942 in Jamaica where he developed a lifelong passion for sports, music and business.
After studying Structural Engineering in England Mike returned to Jamaica and began his first construction business – Marley & Plant. After many successful years, Mike moved his young family to Victoria where his entrepreneurial spirit thrived. His company “Mahoe Properties” developed many condo and townhome projects, as well as residential subdivisions island-wide.
Always looking for new opportunities Mike shared his success with others to help them achieve their ambitions. He invested in a vast range of ventures including a camera store, cultivating a worm farm, purchasing Royal Oak Golf Course as well as collaborating with many restaurants.
In addition to serving on various boards in Victoria Michael generously gave back to the community through his philanthropy. A real honour for Mike was being appointed Honorary Jamaican Consul for Victoria from 2007 to 2012.
Throughout his life Mike’s active nature was satisfied by tennis, swimming, dancing and golfing with his 16-ball group, he always loved a challenge.
In 2008 Michael married the love of his life Ethel, together they enjoyed golf, travel and socializing over drinks and dinner with their many close friends.
In later years Mike’s strength and determination were challenged as he struggled valiantly, with Parkinson's and Heart Disease.
Predeceased by his parents Robert and Dorothy, and brother Robert.
Survived by: His loving wife Ethel, daughter Emma (Roger Cucheran), son Mark (Danielle), Grandsons Zachary (Holly), Noah (Hanna) and 3 great-grandsons, William, Colt and Hayes, and Sister-in-Law Judy, and his children’s mother Beverly, nephews, cousins and many incredible friends.
