She is predeceased by her devoted husband Harry, parents James and Elizabeth Kenneth, brothers James, Frederick and Daniel and sister Betty.
Born in Scotland, our mum grew up during the depression and WWII. Her first job was in a sweet shop during the war years when sweets were scarce although she always managed to bring home sweets for her little brother John. She also did her bit for the war effort by working in the Rolls Royce airplane factory as an inspector.
In due course, Flo met Harry and married in 1956, daughter Janice arrived followed by son Kenneth. Eager to give their young family better opportunities, they moved to Victoria in 1973. Mum became a fixture at Marks & Spencer’s and enjoyed her time there immensely. Mum was also a devoted parishioner of St. Andrew’s cathedral for decades and one of the highlights of her later years was going to Murchie’s for coffee and cake with the ladies after mass.
Mum and Dad were an extremely social couple spending every Saturday night at the Pro Patria legion dances. They often hosted parties for old friends and new. Seasoned travellers, they enjoyed cruising to many exotic destinations. Even after our Dad passed, Mum kept her spirit of independence and adventure using public transport well into her eighties to get to the shops and lunches with friends. Mum was at her happiest spending time with family and friends.
Despite the health difficulties our Mum had in recent years, her sweet nature shone through. She was always smiling and ready for a visit, dressed in her best! She is lovingly remembered by her children Janice and Ken (Dawn), grandchildren Adam Farrell, Danielle, Liam and Paige, sister Helen, brother John, sister-in-law Anne and many nieces and nephews in Victoria and Scotland.
We would like to thank the kind staff at The Heights for their tender and compassionate care.
