It is with great sadness that the family of Chris announces his passing.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Diane and their 3 children & spouses Deanne & Sergio; Michelle & Tim; and James & Michelle along with their 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Chris is also well-loved by his family of Lyn, Kathy, Ray, Steve, Judy, David, Colleen, and their families. This strong, loving, wise and gentle man with the best laugh ever! will be missed by his Family and First Baptist Church family and friends.
His families move to Centralia, Ontario was the beginning of his rise to hockey greatness. Chris was known as #17 from the Victoria Cougars ’69-72. He played Centre and he played with excellence. He was an elite-level player with incredible sportsmanship both on and off the ice. He was drafted to the New York Rangers in 1971.
Chris returned to Victoria and began a 30-year Career in Engineering and Administration.
Chris left the CRD for a change in vocation. He studied to become a Pastor and was ordained at the Mustard Seed Street Church in 2004. Chris was a Worship Leader, Counsellor and Bible Teacher and became the Executive Director of MSSC. After retirement, Chris and Diane moved to First Baptist Church where they led worship and were involved in Leadership.
Chris loved his golf days with a great group of men. He served on the Council in his strata as President & enjoyed the community. He was a busy man engaged in life! His love and pride were his family. He shared wisdom, life and recipes. Papa Chris was known as the Family Chef and Chris was also a Gardener. Everything he touched bloomed. Family holidays were fun and the young men, although they tried; could never beat Papa Chris at table tennis. It must have been his red running shoes!
Diane and Chris loved their quiet time away in Hawaii.
His deep love for Jesus Christ is reflected throughout his life.
He brought life everywhere he went and to everything he touched.
We are all richer for sharing life with Chris.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 1:00pm PST at First Baptist Church Victoria (877 North Park St, Victoria, BC).
