It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing our Dad, Pat. Born to Charlie and Beatrice McGaw
Dad was raised and worked in Victoria and the area all his life. Dad worked as a Mechanic for the City
of Victoria, then Woodwards and finally Pat Carson Bulldozing in Cobble Hill until his retirement. Pat met
the love of his life Linda, and they married in 1960 and had 2 children Bob (Vicki) Brian (Sue). Sadly, Dad
lost his rudder and compass Linda in 1982. This left a mark on Dad that never healed. Hopefully they are
together again and riding a Honda Goldwing into the sunset. Dads’ generosity and loyalty to family and
friends was his life and reason for being. He would drop anything to help someone. Dad was a member
of the Victoria Motorcycle club where he rode trials bikes, met many friends and taught his boys the joy
of two wheels. He was also an avid skier and slow pitch player. Dad skied across B.C. and all over Europe
until all the broken bones and damaged knees he sustained caught up with him and he had to hang up
his skis and glove. He absolutely adored his Grandchildren, spoiling them whenever he had the chance.
Whether it was watching Tanner and Dylon play hockey or Justin and Kelsey play squash he was
extremely proud of them.
We would like to say a special thanks to the Campbell family. Bill, Debbie, and
Kelsi and Isabelle who opened their home and hearts to Dad, they were like a second family to him.
To all his friends at the ANAF in Sidney. Remember the wave and the grin when he won anything at the
meat draw on Friday nights. That was his happy place.
Dad is predeceased by his parents, wife Linda, brothers Gordy and Tom, and sister Marge.
Dad loved a party. As such a celebration of life will be held June 3rd at 2:00 at First Memorial Funeral
Services 4725 Falaise Dr. Victoria B.C. Reception to follow
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.firstmemorialsaanich.com for the McGaw family.
