Carol Angela Hammond passed away suddenly on February 25, 2021. Carol was born April 9th, 1955 in Cheam, England, and was preceded in death by her eldest child Justin William Hammond and her parents Derek and Dora Wick.
Carol emigrated at the age of two to Ontario, Canada. She spent her childhood in Ontario with her parents and siblings Jackie, Tony and Allison. The family moved to St. Mary’s Ontario, where Carol graduated high school. Carol then went on to attend Fanshawe College. After graduation Carol moved out west to Victoria, B.C to join her family.
Carol married Thomas William Hammond on August 30, 1980. They then purchased a home in Calgary, Alberta, and welcomed three wonderful children Justin, Lindsay and Christopher.
In 1990 Carol and her family moved to Sicamous, British Columbia where Carol started her career in insurance. Carol was a dedicated mother who was actively involved in her children’s hockey and figure skating trips.
After the devastating passing of her eldest son Justin on November 17, 2000 Carol devoted her time to her family. She proudly watched and as both Lindsay and Christopher graduated high school and continued on with further education.
In 2006, Carol, relocated to Victoria B.C where she purchased her dream condo on the ocean. Carol lived an extremely happy life surrounded by close family and friends. Carol was an avid traveller that held the family spontaneity gene. She went on countless family vacations with those she held close to her heart including both her children’s destination weddings. She continued her travels up to January 2020 and was semi-retired, looking forward to her full retirement.
Carol was the center and heart of the family including her extended family. Carol lived every day to the fullest and enjoyed her life. She took the time in her life to cherish and appreciate those around her. She was a pillar of strength and an inspiration to many who knew her. She taught her children to savour the good times, to endure the tough ones, to grieve and then rise again.
Carol will be forever loved, cherished and deeply missed.
