Brian passed away peacefully in his room at Veterans Memorial Lodge, Broadmead, the afternoon of May 4th surrounded by the love of his wife, Viviana and daughter Michelle. Left to mourn him are his grandchildren Jaacob, Ella and Jessie.
Brian was born in Vancouver to Terrence and Yvonne McCoy.
He was a graduate of St Louis College, after graduation he trained as a steam and pipe fitter and joined local 124. He went to Victoria College and Notre Dame University in Nelson. He also trained as Trade Counsellor for the Department of Labour in Vancouver, where he worked for 2 years. The family missed Victoria so they came back and he worked in shipbuilding till his retirement.
Brian loved to study languages, in particular Spanish Literature. He enrolled in the Spanish correspondence courses offered by the University of Waterloo.
His hobbies were also chess and golf. He was a member of the chess club in Victoria for a time but enjoyed his impromptu games of chess with his best friend Lynn. He also played correspondence chess. Brian and Lynn also had great times playing golf on weekends. Socially Brian and Viviana enjoyed dinners with friends and neighbours, going to the Symphony and theatre.
Brian was a devoted husband and father, who loved his grandchildren.
A family gathering is planned for a later date.
The family will like to thank the staff of Veterans Memorial Lodge for their excellent care and are grateful of their kindness and expert help towards him .
