The family of Barry George Browning sadly announce his passing at the age of 89.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Margery Browning of 65 years and his devoted children Kevin (Mary), Kathy Hunt (David Lindsay), and Steven (Chantel).
Barry was born in Swindon, UK. He migrated to Canada after an early life at sea having trained aboard HMS Worcester. He served as navigator in 426 Sqn RCAF then went to the earn a B.A. from University of Western Ontario and taught high school in Watford and London, Ontario. He briefly returned to the RCAF as an education officer before becoming the Deputy Registar at UWO and then Registrar at the University of Manitoba. Never one to stand still, Barry completed his LL.B in 1978 and moved to Victoria to practise law with an UWO friend Bill van Cuylenborg. Barry, in retirement, was always together with Mary enjoying lawn bowling and travel. At the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club he became an elected life member. A private celebration of life with family and close friends will take place at a time to be determined.
