Sandy was born June 29, 1931, to parents Edward and Helen Rogers in Banchory, Scotland. He was the baby brother to sisters, Rose, Violet and Daisy. Sandy is survived by his wife Beth, daughter Darlene/Steve, son James and grandchildren, Alec and Lauren. He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters.
He graduated from Webster College, Aberdeen in 1948. He was enlisted into the Royal Army Corps in September 1949 and spent his National Service in Malaya discharging in October 1951. He returned to Banchory finding office work in Aberdeen with Richards Limited, a textile manufacturing company.
Sandy immigrated to Canada on June 21, 1958, and settled in Ottawa. He worked for Dustbane Enterprises travelling coast to coast transitioning new companies to the corporate accounting systems and performing internal audits.
In 1965 he met and married Beth Rankin. Darlene was born in October 1965 and James in 1971. Dustbane transferred the family to Victoria in 1978.
Sandy joined Gyro International in Ottawa in 1961 where he was nicknamed Scotty and served as president of the local club in 1975/1976. On moving to Victoria he joined the Camosun Gyro Club. The family enjoyed over 50 years of special Gyro friendships and wonderful activities.
We will have him forever in our hearts and ask that you have a wee dram in his memory.
There will be a private family service to lay him at rest in Hatley Memorial Gardens with his sister Violet.
