Carl Henry Fischer, age 90 of Greenville, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Oakley Place Assisted Living Center, Greenville, Ohio at 10:34 AM. Carl was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 15, 1931 to the late John & Catherine (Steinmetz) Fischer and when he was 4 his family moved to Rossburg, Ohio. He then attended Ansonia Schools, was active in baseball and graduated in 1949 as a well-respected student and friend. After graduation, he worked on the family farm. Soon after, he joined the National Guard from 1951-1952 before joining the United States Army from 1952-1954 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged. Carl had a strong faith and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, Ohio and the Knights of Columbus. In his free time he loved to watch Cincinnati Reds baseball games, and reading the daily newspaper. Carl moved to the Oakley Place in 2011, where he enjoyed socializing and participating in the daily activities. We are very grateful to all of the kindness and compassion they showed to Carl over the last 10 years. A special thank you to EverHeart Hospice for the care they provided in Carl’s final days.

Friends may call on the family from 9:00 -11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. The Knights of Columbus ceremony to begin at 10:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Frenchtown, Ohio with Fr. Jim Simons presiding. Burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
