Our Mom, Lois Weixl, died November 9, 2024, hopefully dreaming about all the amazing adventures she'd been on, throughout her 98 years. Lois was the second youngest of nine children, born to Annie Rachel and John Seymour Thompson. Her siblings were: Johnny, Margaret, Cam, Ross, Jim, Isabel, Ruth, and Mac. Lois was predeceased by her husband Don Weixl Sr. on August 8, 2011.
From growing up on a farm in Listowel, Ontario, to graduating as an Registered Nurse in Toronto, marrying a RCAF pilot, relocating throughout Canada and Europe many times with a family of four kids, to finally settling in Vernon, Lois took everything in her stride with quiet unwavering strength.
Wherever in the world our air force family ended up, Mom made us a warm and welcoming home. She provided us with good books and patiently taught the girls to sew their own clothes. She was famous for her apple pies, butter tarts, and lively sense of humor. Mom was a kind and gentle mother who gave us the freedom to find our own way in the world. She always believed in us; her advice was “Do what makes you happy.” She loved to share the beauty of flowers from her garden, often sending visitors home with flower cuttings and seeds.
Mom made many friends while living at Lisheen Estates and Desert Cove. She loved to golf at the Spallumcheen Golf Club and socialize with her potluck group.
We would like to tell the whole Universe how proud we are that she was our Mom, one of the best!
