Betty Marie (McKillop) Keith died peacefully in Vernon on Friday, Nov. 29, surrounded by her family. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Winnifred McKillop, 16 older brothers and sisters and her beloved husband, Gordon Keith. She is survived by her sister, Win Moore, daughters Connie McGregor, Susan Mark (Tom), Pam McGregor (Rob), Cathy Fenwick (Murray), grandchildren Peter, Kate, Jane, great-grandaughter Raya and assorted grand-dogs. Born in Arcola, Saskatchewan in 1927, Betty was a fierce Roughrider fan and a true original. A feisty personality, she delighted in entertaining with her salty sense of humour and prairie stories. Her strong social conscience and political views were fostered early in her rural Saskatchewan upbringing. During Betty’s long career in mental health in Vancouver, she left an indelible mark on both colleagues and clients. Betty liked her literature from Canada and her wine from Italy. At Betty’s request there will be no service.
You did it your way, Mom. You’re on your way to Winnipeg to be with Gord. Enjoy that big sky.
“If you’re not from the prairie you don’t know the sky. You can’t know the sky.”
