Barbara Anne Hiebert (nee France) was born in Sudbury Ontario on December 30th, 1938. She grew up in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan where she married, and had two children Scott and Janet, then later moved to B.C. where her third child Jennifer was born.
After a few years in Montreal, she moved to Vancouver where she followed her passions of curling and playing bridge; only later to participate in the BC Senior Winter Games (Curling), along with obtaining her Life Masters designation in Bridge. The mastery of her passions, as well as dedication to raising her children, are the accomplishments of a determined woman with strong
family values.
She eventually moved to the Comox area and built her dream home. She was artistic, and there she focused on oil painting, needlework and crafts, always continuing with bridge. Finally she moved to Vernon where she spent the last nearly 20 years. She was a prominent member of a Vernon Bridge Club, leaving many dear friends there. COVID interrupted her active social calendar; She lived in a small strata, and grew even closer to her neighbours, leaving true friends there.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren (Katherine, Brandon, Bennett and Jonathan). While she was an only child, her first cousins where like siblings and in later years they enjoyed an annual “Cousins Trip” to celebrate those connections. She loved to travel, and was lucky enough to travel to many
incredible destinations around the world. She touched so many people with her fun loving warmth, friendliness, and acceptance of all. She not only, made many friends wherever she lived, but also retained friendships from her high-school years; she valued friends like family, and put herself before others constantly.
She was pre-deceased by her Father Jim, Mother Ethel, and Granddaughter Amy. She passed away on December 13th, 2021 as a result of a car accident. To suddenly lose her, even though we are grateful for her 82 wonderful years, leaves a void in many hearts.
