Marie Wilder, 84, of Ventura, died Friday, August 20, 2010, following a brief illness. She was born November 30, 1925 in Plainview, Texas to John and Vera Beaty, and had been a Ventura County resident 64 years, coming from Portales, New Mexico.
Marie had been a grocery clerk over 25 years, retiring from Frank’s Market in 1990. She volunteered at Food Share, and enjoyed bowling, traveling with friends, and spending time with family.
Marie is survived by her son, Jerry D. Martin, and his life partner, Stephanie Cabaniss, of Ventura; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Guy Miel, of Santa Maria; grandchildren, Shannon Waits, and her husband, Erick, of Grover Beach, Bryan Waits, and his wife, Ame, of Albuquerque, Kim Drury, and her husband, Todd, of Ventura, Christopher Martin, and his wife, Carley, of Ventura, Lisa Isbell, of Ojai, and Corye Frame, and her husband, Nick, of Montrose; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Noah, AnneMarie, Lucy, Haley, Bryson, Luke and Ty; nephews and nieces, Harold Martin, and his wife, Sharon, of Santa Maria, John Evetts, and his wife, Lisa, of Ventura, and Judy Schneider, of Ojai; and dear friends, Charlotte Bell, Joyce Blair, and the “Posse,” and Linda Haire, an angel on earth, who cared for Mom as if her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar L. “Dale” Martin; parents, John Arthur and Vera Beaty; and siblings, Irene Evetts, and Charlie, Clarence and Orville Beaty.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, where funeral services will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd., Ventura.
