Clyde C. Cole

Clyde Clayton Cole went to meet his maker on March 25, 2015 with great courage and his family by his side. Clyde was born on July 21, 1921 in Pueblo Colorado. He spent his early youth in San Diego, CA and at the age of 13 moved to his grandparent's cattle ranch in Burns, Oregon. Clyde would spend a considerable amount of his youth hunting jack rabbits, riding horses, and attending to cattle; all of which he recounted fondly in his later years. As well as positive memories, Clyde would later recount many hardships and deprivations caused by life during the depression. When World War Two broke out in Europe, Clyde heeded his countries calling by hitchhiking down to Burbank, California, to seek work as a draftsman at Lockheed Martin. Clyde would later join the Navy as a draftsman where he served in the pacific campaign. After the war, Clyde was successful working as an engineer for various companies serving the military. In 1948 Clyde was recruited to work for the Civil Service at Point Mugu where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1979.Clyde was heavily involved in the missile program at Point Mugu and designed several key components for various equipment. After his working for the Civil Service, Clyde worked as an engineer for several sub contractors. When not working, Clyde enjoyed flying his own airplane, building and sailing his own boat, and traveling with his family. Clyde was a considerably honest, stoic, hard working man who was admired and respected by all who knew him.

Clyde married Martha Mainer in 1956, and they enjoyed 59 years of a happy and successful marriage. He is survived by his loving wife Martha Cole, his brother Roy Cole, daughter Shelley Zito, his two grandsons Ryan Renfro, wife Morag, and Nicholas Zito, his two great-grandchildren Ryan and Kayley Renfro. A memorial service will be held for Clyde at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Dr.
