Charlotte A. Mangan, 68, of Ventura, died following a lengthy illness on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 1, 1947, in Oakland, California, to Elmer and Maryeva Anderson.
Charlotte was a 20 year resident of Ventura moving here from Barrington, Illinois, where she and her husband raised their two children. Having received a B.A. in art and English from Valparaiso University in 1969, she became a commercial artist working in Evanston, Illinois, where she met her husband. She interrupted her commercial art career to be a stay-at-home mom while the children were young, but continued her career on a part time basis in California, retiring in 2005. In addition to being a voracious reader, Charlotte enjoyed writing poetry, home decorating and agility training with the family dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gregory J. Mangan of Ventura; son, Daniel Mangan of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Katharine Mangan of Anacortes, Washington and her fiancé Patrick Maher; and brother, Joe Anderson of Gainesville, Missouri.
Visitation will take place Sunday, October 23, 2016, 2 PM until 5 PM at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
