Carolyn was born on November 6, 1931, to her parents Martin and Margaret Feyma in a house on Cedar Street that still exists today in her native city of Ventura. She graduated from Ventura Sr. High in the year 1949 and married the love of her life, Mason Parrish, also of Ventura, on February 8, 1953.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ronald. Carolyn leaves behind her devoted husband Mason, with whom she shared many a road trip to the family farm in Missouri. Her children, Jeff and Julie Parrish of Colleyville TX, Rebecca and Patrick Swift of Ojai, Laurie Dougherty of Ventura, Scott and Stephanie of Vacaville, CA; sisters, Connie (Richard) Lane of Auburn and Virginia Peck of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren were very special to her, leading her and Mason to drive either to Northern California to visit Luke and Titus Parrish or all the way to Colleyville Texas to see Nathaniel and Madilyn Parrish. Locally her grandsons Cpl. Daniel Dougherty USMC, Jake and Jordan Swift, and great-grandson Brandon Swift were often a visitor or phone call away. Of her greatest joys is the fact that Titus Parrish and Cody Swift were born months apart, a grandson and great-grandson, and her great-granddaughter Audrey Swift. She leaves behind many family members of the Feyma and Babb relation.
Mom taught Sunday school for many years at First Assembly of God Church in Ventura and supported many missions.
Of her greatest talent, her strawberry jam was the best. It was after the kids were grown that mom developed a passion for preserving food. She would can just about anything from homegrown green beans to venison that dad brought home from a week of hunting. She was a fierce competitor in the Ventura County Fair, this year of 2016 being “my last.” Her best year we think was either 1991 or 2007 when she entered 101 different varieties!! We will miss her and hold her forever in our hearts.
